Well, well, well what can I say….the last film I saw at the cinema was the latest Sacha Baron Cohen movie: Bruno & oh my word I just don’t know what to say!! Where do I start with this review…..I’m sure most of you will be aware of the controversy that surrounded his previous character movie: Borat, well this movie took it one step further!!
Bruno is an Austrian gay fashion designer, who goes to America on the search of becoming a celebrity famous across the world. To acheive this he tries many different things, including adopting an African Orphan, trying to interview celebrities & turning himself straight!! The film is funny in places, as well as utterly shocking in others. In can also be said that the film is also eye clenchingly cringeworthy…..especially one of the first montages which is basically an homosexual porno scene between Bruno & his personal assistant!!
As per Borat, the film is more to do with the reaction of the American people to Bruno’s behaviour and actions…to be honest, some of the reactions just seem way too extreme to be believable, where as on the other hand, you also think that some of the people could actually react in this way!! Whether it be the anti-gay groups in the deep south or the shocked talk show audience when Bruno reveals his African orphan – OJ, to them!! Perhaps the most shocking was the reaction of the pushy parents who would let there child do anything to be famous!! Like staring in Brunos promo video operating heavy machinery, nailed to the cross or taking drugs etc!!
Overall, I don’t think the film is as funny as Borat & I’m not sure Sacha Baron Cohen can get away with doing anymore character based films!! In fact, sometimes, I did actually find myself putting my head in my hands in disbelief!! So my mark out of 10 would be an average 6!!
Just, to point out, my fellow blogger Chris also saw the film with me, but I see he hasn’t reviewed it yet!! I wonder if he’s too ashamed or traumatised to bring himself to write about it yet…..

I know I promised lots more interesting updates since my last post, but alas this hasn’t been possible….It seems my best man duties are being stretched to the max, as I am now editing the wedding video which is taking up most of my spare time…but hey its good fun!! Plus work being super busy, the blog is still taking a back seat….I will get round to posting something interesting soon!!
Anyway, this post is about the free screening we got to see the other week, which was actually part of a cinema double header!! The two films couldn’t have been any more opposite to each other….firstly was the latest rom com: The Proposal, followed closely by the latest Sacha Baron Cohen creation: Bruno – more on that one next post!!
Much like my fellow blogger Chris, The Proposal isn’t my usual cup of tea, but hey it was free & actually I was quite suprised how tolerable it was!! The usual predictable rom com story line, which is basically along the lines of: Man works for horrible/selfish female boss, man wants promotion & does everything to get promotion, including agreeing to marry her in order to prevent her being deported back to Canada!!
Cue, them spending time with each other in order to convince the officials that their relationship is real & guess what…yep, they fall in love!! Ahhhhhh…or should that be Urgggghhhhh!!
I suppose as rom coms go – it was ok & pretty bearable, plus you almost get to see Sandra Bullock’s naked boobies…which I must admit she does look good for almost 45, infact I’d say she was pretty damn hot for her age…its just a shame she has that annoying voice!!
Overall marks for the film: an average 5.5…… Oh & by the way, in answer to Chris’ questions in his review: Yes, Yes, The right one for 1 min, then the left one for 1 min – repeat until tired!! & No way dude….

Final post of today, brings us right up to date with a review of yesterdays movie outing…Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaur in 3D!!
Nothing much to report really, as it wasn’t actually that good, not as funny as the first one or even second…the 3D effects weren’t used enough in my book, to warrant the extra cost!! I’m sure the film is funny for kids, but I think the producers miss a trick by not adding in more adult based humour – much like Disney Pixar do in their films!!
To make it worse, we had a rather annoying couple behind us giving us full commentry & asking random questions about what was gonna happen next??
Overall, my score would be a dull 5.5/10….Let’s hope for better next week & here’s to more blogging – hopefully!!

If you’ve been reading my blog over the past couple of months….You’d have noticed that my posts have been few & far between, the reason being that I’ve been busy preparing to be a best man!!
Well, last Friday the day was finally upon us & the happy couple were married at the Bedford Lodge Hotel in Newmarket….The happy couple in question were my good friends Laura & Matthew – now Mr & Mrs Dunling!!
Please, join me in wishing them every happiness in the future as a married couple, I’m sure they’ll be very happy….after all they were made for each other!!

Well it seems yet again I have been delayed in writing these movie reviews as we saw this film 2 weeks ago….but hey, the wedding that I was best man for was last weekend, so you could say that I’ve been kinda busy up until then!! What with local stag do’s & writing speeches etc. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get back to my normal frequency of blogging – yeah about once a week!!??
Anyway, the film in question we saw was the sequel to Transformers, called – Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. So after the huge success of the first film, could this film live up to the hype?
Well, In my opinion NO….So the all action robot fighting scenes were good, but no better than the first film & with the WOW factor no longer present, as we have seen the robots transform before, this makes up only a small part of the film!! The story line was terrible – a National Treasure style race against the clock to solve the ancient Egyptian clues before the Decepticons destroy the world! Perhaps the most annoying part of the movie, was the silly humour!! The fact that they made the Mother ditty & get all giggly when high on drugs….then there’s the urban style, laddish, rude to the bring of racist ‘younger robot brothers’ who were just annoying!!
Overall, the film was a big let down, in both the expectation from the first film & the hype from the trailer!! Ok so the robot fighting was good, but you need more than that in a film these days….Infact, I’d say the only reason to see this film is to oggle at Megan Fox in short shorts….I mean you wouldn’t see it for her acting!! To see more of Megan, check out the gallery after the jump….
Finally, my score out of ten would be a poor 6/10.
